Hello! Thanks for visiting my website! For those of you who don’t know me, I’m a recent PhD gradaute. My research at UCSD and the Salk Institute of Biological Sciences lies at the intersection of mechanical engineering and neuroscience. Specifically, I am interested in understanding the mechanism of non-invasive ultrasound neuromodulation and development of medical devices to facilitate clinical applications. I have been fortunate to collaborate with a great team and this has led to several publications and patents in the field. I’ve also been supported with awards from the department of mechanical engineering at UCSD (best graduate student award, 2022), the Jacob’s school of engineering (best poster award, 2022) and the Institute of the Global Entrepreneur (Boni Foundation fellowship). Before starting my PhD, I graduated with a master’s in mechanical engineering from UCLA in 2015, after which I worked at Abbott’s cardiovascular division in Los Angeles. At Abbott, I helped develop the world’s first FDA-approved, smartphone compatible implantable cardiac monitor, Confirm Rx. I actively mentor and engages in STEM outreach through organizations both on and off campus such as the IRC, MAE mentoring program and JUMP. I am curently leading the effort to translate my research via my startup, SonoBac, Inc.
